How to Start your Own Alkaline Water Refilling Station—the Cheapest and Easiest Way

Water is a lifetime necessity, which makes the water refilling station business mushroom here and there. Before reaping the gold however, every water station must conquer one of the toughest challenges: how to start the business.
Here is a rundown on how to put up your own water refilling station, the smart, easy and most affordable way.

Get your Source

There are many water systems and water purifying methods available, all you have to do is pick one, depending on your location and your criteria. If you are searching for pocket-friendly equipment or water supplier, The SAP 2500 machines would have to be the best option. With its starter package, you only need to shell out P85,000 in order to establish your own water station.

Strategize your Location

Before, a booming business depends on a strategic location but nowadays, it’s about the quality of the water and the service on top of everything. Nevertheless, most water station businesses require a minimum 20-25 sqm Area. Today though, incredible water systems are possible in a mere 10 sq. m. of floor space, which is why your own small corner at home can be an option.

It’s important to finalize and process the renovating, leasing or buying of the business establishment first because the process can be tedious, depending on the location.

Once you have identified where you want to put up your business you can actually seek help from your supplier to help you out with the water station area design or layout and they can assess the place before supplying the equipment. Always, a down payment is required before the supplier builds the machines.

Ensure Equipment

While in the process of construction or renovation of your establishment, you may want to process your orders of all the required equipment to run a water station. This may take up to 2-3 weeks. Prepare your budget.

Ideally for starts it good to ensure just 50 pieces of 5-gallon containers (25 square and 25 faucet types) and don’t forget of course the marketing collateral such as stickers, signage, logos, flyers, streamers etc.

Also, take note that some customers who order in bulk per week will be asking for hot and cold water dispensers. It would be wise to prepare budget for purchasing water dispensers.

Delivery Method

From the beginning, you have to decide what mode of delivery you will be using. It can be the gasoline-less motorcycle that can carry 10-15 bottles. It can be through mere manpower, sidecar or bikes, if possible. Everything depends on your situation.

Gather all Necessary Permits

In order to speed up the process you can start securing all the necessary business permits while all the above mentioned processes are ongoing.

Business Permit

Head to the nearest DTI in your area and prepare at least 5 to 10 business names to avoid delays in case your proposed business name gets rejected. Nowadays, business registrations can be done online, visit http://www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph/ for all the necessary details. Registration fee is P165.00.

Barangay Clearance

Bring your DTI registration papers to your Barangay who has jurisdiction on the business location. Fees are usually subjective on the respective Barangay.

Sanitary Permit

It would be advisable to seek the procedures from the nearest Department of Health office regarding the water analysis to be performed by DOH approved laboratories. But prior to water testing at least let the machine run a day or 2.

In Metro manila, DOH accredited laboratories can do the testing on site or via their lab for usually around Php 350 for the coliform bacteria while the PH test often costs only P 250. For provincial areas, the municipal or city health districts can also perform the lab tests.

If the results for the lab tests are positive, congratulations! You are now ready for a booming business.

Mayor’s Business Permit

When you have registered your business name to DTI, got the sanitary permit and secured the Barangay clearance already, heading to your local municipal office is the next step to get a Mayor’s business permit.

BIR Processing

Finally, when all permits have been finalized, it’s time to head to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for legal receipt printing registration. You need to fill up the form 0506 then just pay the fees. Contact a printing supplier and give them a copy of your approved form 0506 and all the permits you’ve secured. The printing press can then handle your receipts and invoices.
